Quartz may be the most abundant type of crystal in the world, but ruby quartz is relatively new. This rare form of Quartz ranges from mottled reds to rosy pinks to reddish-gold in hue. Natural forming ruby quartz is commonly found in several regions of Africa. The only popularized use of ruby quartz outside of jewelry is in Marvel's X-Men for Cyclops' goggles. These small, round beads are smooth and measure at 6mm.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
