"Korean Jade" is another name for the greenish variety of serpentine, which is a family of stones composed of a variety of silicate with minor amounts of various elements such as chromium and manganese. They are opaque to translucent and occur in a variety of shades of green, brown, and white. These irregularly shaped smooth stones are 10-15mm in length and are drilled closer to one end to accentuate the variety of lengths in the strand. They are a vivid shade of chartreuse.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
