A term for a variety of deep sea coral species in the family Isididae, bamboo coral are found in oceans around the world. Given the name due to their gorgonian nodes’ resemblance to the segments in a stalk of bamboo, bamboo coral is naturally whitish grey, and can be dyed a variety of colors for use in jewelry. These irregularly shaped chips are smooth, vary slightly in size, and have been dyed a bright vermillion red.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
