Karin Nelson

One would say I have a love affair with beads, and they would be correct! I’ve dabbled with making jewelry, knitting and needle crafts over the last 30 years. Beads won out in the end.

I started my jewelry business Mount Forest Beadery in 2009. Like many others, I hit the local Farmers Markets, and became hooked. I still currently do an annual market in Duvall, Washington. It has that small town feel, but with a big sense of community that is so wonderful.

Shortly after I started my business I found a part time job at Garden Of Beadin in Bothell Washington. Although I had been no stranger to working retail, something about being surrounded by beautiful beads was so calming, but also sparked my creativity.

Over the next 8 years I continued doing Farmers Markets as well as managing and teaching classes at the bead shop. I also have had the pleasure of working with my daughter Grace both at the bead shop and at my Markets. Sharing the same craft has formed a special bond between us.

In March of 2016 I opened my Etsy Shop and also joined Instagram. I love all types of beading, but beadweaving is my go to. There is something so satisfying when weaving these small beads together to create a piece of jewelry. I am so pleased to be able to create jewelry and have it available both locally and online in my Etsy Shop.

I have met so many nice people that have supported my small business and let me be allowed to do what I love.
