August 28:
With help from Pam and my wife, many bushels of weeds have been removed from the planting bed in front of the store. We also planted some more flowers. Pulling weeds is a good reminder of how tenacious life is. They grow in the tiniest cracks in the pavement, sprout from teaspoons worth of nasty sandy dirt, and manage, if not yanked early, to grow huge. There are even some growing at the bottom of the curb out on Forest Ave.
Two more bead store training sessions coming up: September 29th & 30th, and October 10 & 11. Please give me a call if you'd like to join us for either of these classes.
August 15:
At long last the Wait List feature is available on our shopping cart. If you are signed in as a wholesale customer and you click on an out-of-stock item, there is now an Add to Wait List link in the Check Availability box. As out of stock items come in, you will receive an email listing the newly available items and can order any or all of them that you need.
July 27
We've decided to phase out our internet sales of freshwater pearls and semi-precious beads, so as current items sell out and vanish from the cart, they will not be replaced. We've known for a while that most of our sales of pearls and semi-precious are happening in our retail store, and we need the shelf space for all the new Miyuki beads that will be coming in this fall and winter.
July 15

Swarovski cubes in 6mm are now available in packs of 72 pcs; 8mm cubes are available in packs of 36 pcs.

We have a limited stock of some new 9mm beads from Miyuki available. They are wholesale only and are under the Miyuki seed bead category.
Our next sea shipment from Miyuki is scheduled to arrive at the end of July.
June 17:
Our June sea shipment from Miyuki arrived late Friday afternoon.
Our big yarn sale is off to a good start. All yarns, needles, notions, etc. are 30% off. There is a yarn category on the shopping cart now; both list and discounted prices are visible. We've crammed as much into the bead half of our store as we can, and with about 2,000 additional beads from Miyuki in the pipeline, plus a lot of other beads that we're planning to add to our retail selection, the time has come to make some more room. If you knit or have friends or relatives who do, please let them know about the sale. For the moment we have a fine selection of top-quality name-brand yarns in stock.

Information about our next sea shipment and other news:
Our new shopping cart is now working well for most customers. If you are a current wholesale customer and your login doesn't work on the new cart, assume that info was lost during the switch and please register again. We'll have you approved in a flash! Please use the wholesale registration form.
Our Gateway credit card processing for internet orders is now working. When you enter your credit card info during checkout, the information will be verified and the funds necessary to pay for your order will be reserved. After we finish processing the order and adjust the total (in case of out of stock items) including freight, we'll complete the processing and your card will actually be charged. Just like Amazon...
In general we do not use postal shipping in the US except for Alaska and Hawaii. If priority mail is really the best option for you, select UPS ground during checkout and then add a note to the comments box during checkout requesting priority mail.
Note also that the rates being quoted for postal shipping are too low (we always insure postal shipments and do delivery confirmation if possible) while the UPS rates on the cart are higher than what we will charge you. We do a lot of UPS shipping and get discounts which we pass on to our customers.
A couple of customers have asked about the number of beads per bag, per gram, etc. If you click on the bead pictures on the home page, all will be revealed.
If you've been on the wholesale cart lately and noticed that we're out of quite a few beads, I can only say that bead stores have been ordering non-stop since January 2nd. Miyuki is aware of our stock situation and we expect to get larger than usual shipments during the next 3-4 months which should fill some of the holes in our inventory.
