Most colors of crystal are available in a transparent colored glass, with an Aurora Borealis rainbow coating, with a satin shadowy coating, and sometimes with a 2x double-thick Aurora Borealis (AB) coating which often changes the appearance of the bead due to the dramatic rainbow exterior. Each year Swarovski comes out with new fashion colors which may continue in production depending on their success and popularity. Not all colors are available in every size of crystal bead.
The bicone is perhaps the best known shape of Swarovski crystal bead. Like a diamond shape, it is widest at the center and tapers to each end. A wide variety of colors are available in 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 8mm crystal beads. To discourage imitation, Swarovski recently introduced a new style of bicone with more facets cut into the sides. This new 5328 Xilion style is replacing the traditional 5301 style of Swarovski crystal bicone.
